Author of the month
A monthly tribute to a writer whose work we cherish.
This month
Hannah Reyes
Author of 'The Mango Hours' - a debut novel about memory, exile, and the smell of childhood fruit.
Hannah Reyes writes from Lisbon, where she teaches creative writing and runs a small reading circle for teenage girls. Her debut, The Mango Hours, was longlisted for several international prizes and translated into seven languages within its first year.
Her work moves slowly, on purpose. She is interested in what happens to women when no one is watching - at kitchen sinks, in waiting rooms, between two prayers. We chose her this month because her sentences make us pay attention again to the rooms we live in.
She is currently at work on her second novel.
